Project Overview

Curious Caterpillars, a well-established and much-loved nursery in Stroud, required additional space to expand its childcare offering. The project delivers a bright, modern modular extension that enhances learning and play while integrating seamlessly within the existing nursery grounds.

The Brief

The nursery needed to increase capacity without disrupting day-to-day operations or compromising the character of its outdoor setting. The new space needed to feel open, flexible, and welcoming for young children, with a strong connection between indoor and outdoor learning environments.

The Solution

We designed and delivered a bespoke modular nursery building positioned within the existing grounds. The new facility includes:

• A large, flexible multi-use room
• A child-friendly kitchen
• An accessible bathroom
• Ample built-in storage

Floor-to-ceiling patio doors open directly onto a dedicated outdoor garden and soft-play area, allowing children to move freely between indoor and outdoor spaces throughout the day.

The design was carefully developed to complement the existing nursery while introducing a fresh, contemporary environment for early years learning.

The completed extension provides Curious Caterpillars with valuable additional space that supports both learning and play in a calm, engaging setting.
