St Benedict’s Catholic School – Bury St Edmunds

This purpose-built sixth form centre was created to give St Benedict’s students their own dedicated space — supporting study, socialising, and staff support in one well-designed building.

At 185sqm, the centre provides common rooms, a study area, and an accessible bathroom, with the main common room also featuring a kitchenette. A rear office space accommodates two staff members, ensuring day-to-day support and supervision for the 60–70 students using the facility.

Externally, a dedicated outdoor social space with decking offers an area for relaxation and connection, extending the building’s use beyond the classroom.

Sustainability and performance were also central to the design, with triple-glazed windows, air conditioning, and an air source heat pump providing excellent comfort and efficiency. Rated A+ for energy performance, the building is a model of modern, environmentally responsible design.
