This single-storey modular building was designed to provide much-needed additional early years space for Tops Day Nursery in Portsmouth — expanding provision for sixteen 3–4 year olds.

The new nursery includes a bright classroom with food preparation facilities, a children’s WC and an accessible WC, alongside ample parking and secure access. Given the site’s proximity to the hospital and its existing nursery provision, expansion was essential to meet demand, particularly for NHS staff.

To ensure the new building blended seamlessly into its surroundings, it was designed in harmony with the adjacent single-storey nursery. Externally, it’s finished in durable Accoya timber cladding, chosen to complement the neighbouring structures, while a new ramp ensures full accessibility. A large, secure play area completes the project — offering a safe and stimulating environment for outdoor learning.
