Project Overview

Currently nearing completion, this purpose-built community outreach centre has been designed to support both Prince Edward Primary School and the wider local community. The building provides a welcoming, flexible space that helps children and families engage with school life in a calm, supportive environment.

The Brief

Prince Edward Primary required a dedicated outreach facility that could support children and parents before and during their transition into school. The space needed to feel accessible, safe, and inclusive, while offering flexibility for a range of community-focused activities and learning sessions.

The Solution

We designed a bespoke community outreach centre incorporating a range of carefully planned spaces, including:

• A warm welcome area
• A child-safe kitchen
• A dedicated skills learning classroom
• Storage facilities
• An outdoor pavilion for flexible use

A covered entrance and walkway provide safe, all-weather access, while large windows bring generous levels of natural light into the building. Set within a wildflower meadow, the centre has been designed to feel closely connected to its natural surroundings.

The Outcome

Designed to achieve A+ energy efficiency standards, the completed building offers a sustainable, future-ready space that supports both educational and community needs. Externally clad in larch with distinctive green roof accents, the centre has a modern yet sympathetic presence within the school grounds.

Once complete, the outreach centre will play an important role in helping families transition into school life, providing a safe, welcoming environment long before children take their first steps into the classroom.
