Oakview Primary – Hatfield
Created as a multi-purpose external classroom and pavilion, this bespoke build provides Oakview Primary School with a flexible space that serves both education and community needs.
The building was designed as an outdoor classroom and all-year-round play area, while also functioning as a covered meeting space for parents to gather and watch sports events on the playing fields. Internally, it includes a day classroom, kitchenette, and an accessible toilet — making it as practical as it is versatile.
Architecturally, the sweeping curvature of the design creates a striking contrast to the school’s 1970s-built main building. Finished in natural larch cladding, the pavilion has a warm, contemporary feel that stands out proudly within the grounds.
This project not only enriches learning but also strengthens the school’s role at the heart of its community.
